Peer support program

The underlying principle of our Peer Support Program is to serve individuals with brain injuries by introducing a supportive, welcoming environment for them to relate better, empathize, and provide insight to one another. Peer support is founded on the premise that people are capable of solving their own problems if given the chance.

Buddy program

The Buddy Program strives to build one-on-one relationships between students and individuals with brain injury. These pairings are based on finding compatibility with volunteers and serve to better address the specific challenges individuals with brain injuries experience. Students will learn to pvoride social support through their buddy's recovery process.

LEctures & Events

Through lectures and events, JHU Synapse raises awareness and advocates for individuals with brain injuries. Through direct engagement with our community, students are encouraged to reflect with their peers on the perspectives and needs of those living with a chronic illness. We believe an appreciation of this perspective is key to equipping and inspiring the next generation of compassionate and patient-centered clinicians, researchers, and advocators to progress the field of brain injury.
