President and Chapter Founder
Viviana Li
Viviana is a Junior majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Writing Seminars. She became interested in the initiatives of Synapse because of the advocacy and supportive efforts for the brain injury community. Outside of academics, Viviana is a passionate tutor and a member of the JHU Cross Country and Track team!

VP of Quality Improvement
Victor Xie
Victor is a Junior studying Public Health and Natural Sciences. Through Synapse, he hopes to give back to the brain injury and broader neuropathology community for their kindness in accepting him and developing him as a student scientist. In his free time, Victor likes to hang out with friends, try new foods, and dabble in various sports and activities.

Kyuna is a Junior majoring in Molecular and Cellular biology at Johns Hopkins. She is engaged in various research endeavors and intends to pursue an MD/PhD path in the future.

peter wang
Peter is a Junior majoring in Neuroscience. He is interested in medicine and related research. The reason why Peter was interested in joining Synapse was because he was curious about the broad effects of brain injury on the patients’ and their family’s quality of life.

Abishek Das
Abishek is a junior at Hopkins majoring in Neuroscience. On campus, he does biology research, volunteers at Mercy Hospital, and is involved with clubs like SASH and CCSL. In his free time, Abishek enjoys lifting and playing basketball.

Iris LEe
Iris is a Sophomore majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Marketing and Communications. She intends to either go into medical school or health policy/consulting in the future. Iris was interested in Synapse because she believes in the power of human connection in changing the lives of individuals with brain injuries.

Samuel Maurer
Sam is majoring in Neuroscience and French, and planning on attending medical school after undergrad. He always had a passion for patient support and interaction, and JHU Synapse was the perfect opportunity to become involved in an organization where their passion was the same as his!

Sabrene Mechergui
Sabrene is a Junior majoring in Public Health. She loves to travel, spend time with friends, and enjoys painting, playing tennis, and horseback riding. Sabrene joined Synapse because I wanted to be a part of an inclusive community that provides a safe environment to support all individuals struggling with brain injury.

VP of the Buddy Program
Eileen Paek
Eileen is majoring in Public Health Studies and minoring in Linguistics at Johns Hopkins. She hopes to pursue a career in the medical field that allows many patient interactions and connections. Synapse provided her a space to do that and allowed for valuable lessons with patients in a specialized neurological field.

Chisom Ihemebiri
Chisom is a Junior double majoring in Psychology and Behavioral Biology, and on the premed path. As a passionate advocate for mental healthcare, she was interested in joining JHU Synapse because of its proactive approach to supporting the brain injury community. Chisom is eager to help with educational programs and raise awareness about brain injuries!

VP of the Buddy Program
Isabelle Tasser
Bella is a VP of the Buddy Program. She's majoring in molecular and cellular biology with a minor in psychology and in her third year at Johns Hopkins. Bella wants to become a sports orthopedic doctor and she feels that Synapse is a good way for her to support members of the ABI community and spread awareness of these disabilities to the general public.

Ahmad elbeltagy
Ahmad is a Junior double-majoring in Neuroscience and Archaeology. When he's not studying or in a research lab, Ahmad is usually trying new hobbies (currently on stained glass and beekeeping), expanding his cookbook, and finding as many excuses to drink coffee as possible.

Lianne Saussy
Lianne is double majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Psychology, currently on the pre-med track. She hopes to go into the brain surgery field and was interested in joining Synapse to learn more about the psychological impacts of neuroscience. Lianne hopes to give back to the brain injury community and improve their quality of life.
